Roger Ortega is Spotify verified independent recording artist and voting member of The National Recording Academy which grants him the opportunity to vote for The Grammys.
Roger also known as “RO” or “RnBPoPWrytr” was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas and now resides in New Jersey with his wife and two daughters.
Showcasing his love for R&B/Pop music he released his first album "RnBPoPWrytr" in 2012 at the age of 37. The album reached #62 on the iTunes R&B/Soul charts. After touring in support of "RnBPoPWrytr" RO made a big splash with his sophomore follow up, "The Lottery". He was 42 years of age. That album not only reached #8 on iTunes but it solidified his membership as a voting member of the National Recording academy.
RO has a loyal fan base that travels well to see him. Roger took that to the next level. Instead of just having his fans travel to see him, he decided he would have them travel with him. He had his first ever RO Cruise in March of 2019 aboard the Norwegian Escape. He'd planned a second cruise but due to COVID-19 the cruise had to be canceled. However the plan for RO Cruise 2 "Encore" is tentatively set for 2022.
Roger has had the opportunity to perform at many events in New York City, New Jersey, Florida, Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico, Illinois, Toronto, ON, Canada and many more locations. He's sold out the Cutting Room in NYC and the 6th Ave Ballroom in Topeka, KS. He's headlined one of the largest festivals in Kansas twice now. RO has opened for acts such as Jay Z, Color Me Badd, Aaron Carter & O-Town to name a few and has shared the stage with the Funky Bunch (formerly Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch). Roger's music has also crossed over to Freestyle audiences as well, performing with Freestyle artist such as TKA, Judy Torres & George Lamond.
Not being able to perform at live events due the pandemic has allowed RO to become creative in how he interacts with his fans. He hosts Wednesday Night Online Wine & Karaoke w/RO which not only allows him to perform for his fans via Zoom but it allows his fans to perform for him. On top of that, Sunday nights will never be the same as RO anchors Sunday Night Soft Rock w/RO every Sunday at 10pm est. on Instagram Live! Which allows RO to show the sillier side of him with current events, spoof skits, wild food challenges and the occasional guest.
In addition to writing and recording Roger has taken this time during the pandemic to begin learning to play the piano and hopes to hit the road as soon as possible. His latest single "Pray For You" showcases RO's newly found skills.
